Earth Week is a product of The Ancients, a community of the wise, individuals not necessarily old who have acquired wisdom in their lives and who wish to share it with others.
The Ancients will gather in Tenerife April 19th to April 28th . Public events will be announced shortly.
During their time in Tenerife, they will be working on a number of possibilities:
1. Art of Living.
The Art of Living is a programme conceived at the last Ancient’s retreat. Its primary goal is to raise awareness of the possibilities in life. Many if not most young people have lost connection not only with nature but with the meaning of life in general, and not just young people, across the generations people are struggling for meaning and purpose in life.
Last August, in Sri Lanka, we held our first (virtual) retreat with a group of young people. It was over five days and was an immediate success although the lack of personal contact was accepted as being a problem.
This year we have inaugurated our first Art of Living course in the UK. Over six months this course will bring practitioners to a level where they can deliver a ten week course, two hours pw, into colleges next academic year starting September 2024. It is going extremely well and the second cohort starts in July. In addition to this course, it is intended to have a second five day programme as a more intense retreat to bring everyone to the same level of understanding.
Our aim is to make this programme a much needed, integrated part of the UK curriculum. So far, all the signs are positive.

2. Anu Art Retreat and Fund.
In May we intend to run our first Anu Art Retreat in Sri Lanka. The idea is to mentor the artistic talent of disadvantaged women and children in an attempt to create sustainable incomes for them. Micro financing will be available through our Global Village initiative. We will be inviting various international artists to attend the event to develop further our fundraising capacity and mentoring strength, and deepen our financial support.
As part of this initiative, we will stage a pottery exhibition of the portrayal of the feminine over the Millenia. The aim is to start a conversation aimed at young women to raise awareness of the importance of the feminine and its equality to that of the masculine. Both are important, in balance. It is seen as wrong that females feel they are inferior to males in any respect. From Tenerife, we will take the exhibition to Barcelona, Bordeaux, Poitier, Paris, Amsterdam, London, Liverpool and Dublin.

3. Story Telling.
This is one of our most important platforms. Story telling is core to human existence. We will be working on several themes:
A. Creating books- Myths & Legends of Mt Teide (part of a 7 Peaks Challenge, see below); Mysterious Guimar Valley- UFOs to Templar treasure, Pyramids to the Black Madonna, and Jesus! ; The Dolphin Gang and Epic 8.
B. Running courses for our volunteers being sent around the world to collect stories from Cultures, with photography, film making and story telling mentoring sessions.
C. Developing the concept of Story Telling Gatherings in Tenerife, but also elsewhere. In the Autumn we will be in the wilds of West Cork, Ireland. We don’t know the how, when, why and where etc yet BUT it will be amazing.
