All of the activities below are free, but will make a huge difference.
THE Fair earth foundation global citizenship voucher
Anyone that comes to the Fair Earth Foundation, will receive a symbolic £50 voucher for you to invest into the following three programmes: Climate Change, Plastic Pollution and Community Action, in any combination you want to. For example £10 can go towards Afforestation, £20 can go towards your Plastic Neutrality and £20 can go into our Community Action Programme, helping grassroots organisations around the world.
Afforestation
On all of our volunteer programmes, a part of the income received can go towards planting trees, for example, if you were to volunteer in Tenerife, the return flight from the UK uses 1 tonne of carbon per person. By using your £50 voucher, through our Plant a Tree, Fund a Dream scheme, we can plant 50 trees, each of which will absorb 1 tonne of CO2 over the next 40 years.
plastic neutrality
In just one year, 400 million metric tonnes of plastic is consumed globally. That’s an average of 53 kg for every person on this earth. For a £35 contribution using your voucher, you can offset your 53 kg plastic footprint by making the Pledge to become Plastic Neutral. Your Pledge will help fund the setup of plastic recycling micro-enterprises in remote and vulnerable communities struggling with the plastic waste epidemic. These programmes, run in association with The Plastic Bank, will run their plastic recycling micro-enterprise with the target to remove and upcycle 53 kg of plastic on your behalf, offsetting your plastic footprint and making you Plastic Neutral.
community action
On all of our volunteer programmes, a part of the income received can go towards our Community Action Programme. The core belief is that individuals can and will make a difference in their communities and just need some help to get on their feet. Education and support in creating a successful enterprise are two of the most powerful drivers available to empower individuals.
Animal Rescue centres
We can arrange for you to visit animal rescue centres at no extra cost.
Beach clean ups
We can arrange for you to join volunteers and local communities in regular beach clean ups as part of your contribution to protecting the environment. Again at no extra cost.
the teide challenge - a fundraising climb up el teide
Our key volunteer fundraising event is The Teide Challenge. The Teide Challenge is not for the fainthearted. It’s a physical feat perfect for anyone with a love of mountaineering, incredible views as well as physical and mental challenges.
We encourage all of our volunteers to attempt The Teide Challenge as part of a fundraiser to help support projects and communities around the world. We are looking to raise £100,000 in 2021 to help our Global Citizenship Programme.
El Teide is the third highest volcano on Earth, and most voluminous in the world. It is the highest peak on the Canary Islands and in the whole of Spain. So, to reach the summit really is quite an achievement.
The climb takes place overnight, to protect you from the sun, and you then get to watch the sunrise from the highest point on the island. According to the people here that have completed the challenge its the most incredible sunrise you could ever see! Once you have reached the summit, you are then presented with two options. Either you can walk back down to base camp, or choose the more popular cable car back down to the bottom.
To take part in the Teide Challenge, we ask that you get in touch with Megan at [email protected] to ensure your place on the challenge.
Once registered, we encourage each climber to set up their own fundraising page as part of our team pages on Just Giving.
From experience, the longer our climbers have to fundraise the better, so we would encourage everyone to get their fundraising page up and running ASAP!
