RYA Powerboat Course

Introduction to Course

The feeling of the wind in your hair on the open ocean, driving your own boat, is a feeling that is pretty hard to beat! This course enables you to rent out a small power boat anywhere in the world. You maybe wish to drive a RIB, have bought your first sports boat or need a certificate to drive a powerboat up to 10m - if you can answer yes to any of these questions then this internationally recognised two-day course is for you.

The Powerboat Level 2 is also known as the National Powerboat Certificate and provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence.

We use highly experienced RYA instructors that the AWdF have worked with for 30 years, lots of our volunteers have done their RYA Small Boat Skipper Course whilst they are with us, some of their favourite memories of Tenerife.

If you want the chance to be surrounded by cetacean researchers and likeminded people who are passionate about ocean conservation, whilst being out on the clear and warm waters, reliable sea conditions and great weather in Tenerife, then this course is definitely for you. There is also the chance to see the resident species of Pilot Whale and Bottlenose Dolphin whilst out on the water.

Who should take this course?

  • Students, aspiring marine biologists, divers, anglers, lifeboat crew, offshore wind farm workers, wake-boarders and water-skiers.
