Fed up of being turned down by potential employers in the field of marine conservation because you don’t have a dive license? Then get your PADI scuba certification with the Fair Earth Foundation.
If you’ve always wanted to learn how to scuba dive, discover new adventures or simply see the wondrous world beneath the waves, this is where it starts. The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world’s most popular scuba diving course, and has introduced millions of people to the adventurous diving lifestyle.
We use highly experienced PADI instructors that the AWdF have worked with for 30 years, most of our volunteers do their PADI open water course whilst they are with us, some of their favourite memories of Tenerife.
If you want the chance to be surrounded by cetacean researchers and likeminded people who are passionate about ocean conservation, whilst diving in the clear, warm waters and great weather in Tenerife, then this course is definitely for you.

- Students, aspiring marine biologists, young professionals, anyone wanting to learn to dive in warm clear waters.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course you will have:
- Theoretical knowledge of how diving affects the human body
- Learnt about the history of SCUBA diving
- Knowledge of SCUBA gear – regulators, cylinders, buoyancy control devices, fins
- Knowledge of how long and how deep you can dive
- Completed 5 confined water dives
- Learnt key skills such as no mask swimming, buoyancy control, weight check
- Experienced 4 open water dives up to a depth of 18 m
- Know how to dive with a buddy and perform a buddy check
- Experienced boat diving and know how to perform a back roll
- Dived in beautiful, clear warm waters

course structure
- Duration: 4-5 days
- Prerequisites : minimum age 10 years, medically fit for diving, able to swim
- 3 stages:
- Knowledge development
- 5 confined water dives
- 4 open water dives
- Additional options:
- FREE careers session with AWdF mentor
- FREE workshop on working in marine conservation around the world
Price & information£565* including accommodation/food at the AWdF base
£415* for the course only (provide your own food and accommodation) *does not include flights. Course start dates: Second Monday of every month starting in April |
Note: When you reserve your place the total amount of your booking will be shown but today you will only have to pay the £50/€50 deposit. The deposit is fully refundable in the event that you can not participate because of COVID-19.

- We only want to work with enthusiastic individuals and people with great positive attitudes. We work with small groups so that we can work at different levels of ability, with tailored learning and mentorship to suit all abilities and previous experience.
