Keynote Talk:
Climate Crisis and Migration from a justice perspective
This talk focuses on the unequal consequences of the climate crisis in different areas of the world, at different scales and in relation to different factors. We will discuss how higher vulnerability to changes in environmental conditions can often be understood through the analysis of injustices, as a form of colonial and neocolonial exploitation, dispossession, and extractivism.
In relation to this, the presentation will take into consideration one of the most debated presumed outcomes of the climate crisis, that is environmental/climate migration. We will look at mobility as an essential component of climate justice, and we will critically discuss the representation of climate migration as a global threat.
The talk will take a critical stance, pointing to climate change as a multiplier of pre existing vulnerabilities, and address the intersectional character of environmental injustices.
